Competition Winners: Twenty nine lucky ladies won prizes in the competition as this was held as part of the Christmas Party Celebration. A sincere thank you to all who donated these prizes.
To also celebrate Christmas, a Christmas Hat Parade was held with S Austen and H Nichols taking out the prizes for the best hats. Hams and chickens were won by members of the Winning Rink and Lucky Team and E McKew donated an encouragement award to P Knox, S Robinson and C Kane.
Tehe morning finished with a delicious ham, chicken and salad lunch followed by plum pudding and fruit salad for dessert. V Wood donated a beautiful Christmas Cake which was cut with much celebration. A huge THANK YOU to the Social Committee for another very successful and enjoyed event.
Bowls will resume on Australia Day 2017. Best wishes to all members for a Merry and safe Christmas and holiday season.

BALLINA’S 59TH CARNIVAL OF BOWLS.
Two teams from South Grafton did well at Ballina when they played in the 59th Bowls Carnival held over three days this week.
M King, P Knox, P Lollback and C Nixon won third prize overall and E McKew, H Nichols, G Ryan and E Whitford’s team won the daily prize on Thursday, 13th October.
MELBOURNE CUP MIXED TRIPLES:
On Tuesday, 1st November, a mixed triples match will be played at the South Grafton Club. Come along for a fun day. 10am start, single entry, $12 entry fee, 20 ends will be played. Dress up in purple and stay for a sausage sizzle lunch. Nibblies will be available and sweeps will be run throughout the morning.

VERSATILITY FOURS
The Versatility Fours, competition matches between South Grafton, Wooli, Grafton, Red Rock, Yamba and Maclean Women’s Bowling Clubs was held in beautiful, calm conditions on Tuesday, 30th October. This is an annual event, providing good fun, good food, great companionship and fierce competition for all 64 players who took part.
The event is sponsored by Clarence Valley Funerals, The Hope Chest, the Friendlies Chemist and South Grafton Women’s Bowling Club.
Umpires on the day were Bernie Kowal and Col Milne who did a fantastic job sorting out any disputes and ensuring all matches were played according to the rules.
Winners on the day were:
Team J from Maclean with 99 points.Team members were K Hudson, L McKay, W Haselum and N Phelps. Sponsor: Clarence Valley Funerals.
Second Place was another Maclean Team with 97 points. Team members were J Hannah, L Rae, M Ryan and S Ferro. Sponsors: SGWBC and The Hope ChestS
Third Place was a Team from Yamba with 92 points. This team consisted of D Burey, C Cole, J Scadden and J Sinclair. Sponsor: The Friendlies Chemist.
The Hundred Club and Raffle Winnings were shared across Clubs attending. A very big thank you to all who donated the 29 raffle prizes. Your effors help to make such events a big success.
Representatives from other Clubs thanked the South Grafton Women’s Bowling Club for a terrific day and a special mention was made of P Knox and her Social Committee helpers for the beautiful salads made for lunch. Also, a thank you to a great barbeque cook of sausages and onion, Barney.
